I believe the reason why people are so upset with our stadium deal is that we will stop being the but of the joke. West ham have always underperformed allowing others to have a joke at our expense. We have got ourselves a good deal with the stadium which has upset both bigger and smaller clubs. The bigger clubs are afraid it will be another club competing for top places in the league Smaller clubs see someone else moving up and away from them.

I've just finished reading this blokes book about Bobby Moore. Didn't think much of it.
I know Moore liked a drink but this paints a very poor picture of Moore as practically an alcoholic.
Slags off West Ham particularly near the end where it talks about the Moore Fund.
Too heavy to read in bed. Car boot sale for it next!

And the club will no longer have a stadium capital asset to borrow on.

Whichever way you look at it (apart from the back of Row DZ) it is a massive steal for West Ham.
Let's hope the good fortune is not thrown away.

What these pratts never seem to grasp is that we are just renting the stadium, no-one is giving us it, we won't own it.
Other organisations will be using it too, why doesn't he criticise them as well for how lucky they are?

I got as far as the bit where he lists the costs to use other facilities in the Olympic Park before trying to argue that West Ham should not charge......
Nobody else can offer a viable, regular and worthwhile use for the Stadium, so we are taking it on so as to assist the Nation in fulfilling our legacy commitment and keeping the place alive so that the joggers and throwers can use it once a year.

He does, P, yes, but none of it is news.
And those are the bits we're celebrating as being a good deal for the club aren't they? He's just put into writing what most people supporting the move have said all along about why it's such a good deal for West ham. Granted, it's written from the perspective of a taxpayer rather than a west ham fan, but the points are still the same.

Of course. I don't want to go but love the fact it's costing us fuck all as a club and that it winds other fans up.
I still agree with most of what they say though.

I think we all know people that moan about it have a point. They have a huge point and it would be horrible if the shoe was on the other foot.... But that is what makes it so enjoyable

He's got a point though, hasn't he?
Imagine if Spurs had had something like this handed to them on a plate, there would be more than a few wet pairs of knickers on here about it.

Yes Darby, Dicko needs to come back in 99 years time, and then have a pop.

Who cares? The bloke was obviously just scratching around, looking for something to write about, and the best he could come up with was something we already know.
WHU were just lucky that the stadium was built on our doorstep and was desperate for a long-term tenant.

Can't say I agree with that, he is banging on about the finances of the deal and how little we have to pay in comparison? He mentions the costs more than twice?

Has anyone ever looked back and seen what various people (journos, politicians, officials etc) were saying when we were told back sometime after 2005 that the stadium's long term use was as a pure athletics stadium? Were their articles like this after the original decision? Which I am guessing involved Seb Coe, Ken Livingstone and others.

That's how I read it, Sven, it's more a pop at the 'epic foolishness' not to include football originally than it is at us. Mentions it twice, and just says we were best positioned to capitalise on it.
He's spot on as well. Quite happy to see more and more articles pointing that out, especially since one of the morons involved in that decision is likely to be running for mayor of London soon.

As mentioned we were the only ones prepared to help the government out of their blunder in not preparing a stadium with the ability to adapt to the only possible serious long term tenant ie professional football. And the current arrangements are only due to the criminal behaviour and spoiling tactics of Tottenham in pursuit of their own arrangements towards blackmailing Haringey Council to help finance WHL. THEY ARE LUCKY TO KNOW US AND SHOULD BE ETERNALLY GRATEFUL. I am assuming the LADY BRADY moniker is a reflection of that and we would have had LORD'S SULLIVAN & GOLD if not for their business interests in the world of SEX PRODUCTS.

Also just skimming through that drizzle again. It seems as though he is putting a negative spin on the fact that we made a profit last year. So reading between the lines it's not acceptable to make a profit and clubs should run themselves into the ground.

But if it was Tottenham moving in then people wouldn't see a problem, but because it is us people have the hump. Hahahaha good fuck em.

Is that the same regime that couldn't wait to work with tottenhams discredited private investigators?
I'd say that particular rag appears to have an agenda and therefore shouldn't be taken seriously, a bit like barry hearn.
